Glazing
How to enclose a terrace with glazing
In short
A terrace is enclosed with glass panels on aluminium rails: accordion (folding panels), 3- or 5-track sliding (stacking panels) or guillotine (vertical panels). The right system depends on width, exposure and use.
The three main families
Accordion: panels fold to one side, maximum opening. 3- or 5-track sliding: panels glide and stack. Guillotine: panels move up and down, handy for ventilation and counters.
Glass and safety
Use safety glass (toughened or laminated) with sizing suited to height and width. Laminated glass holds fragments if it breaks.
Combine with a pergola or blinds
Glazing combined with a pergola creates a true outdoor room; blinds or shutters limit overheating in summer.
